A young activists condemns world leaders saying governments have betrayed young people. In a very young age of 16, Greta Thunberg sparkled an international movement to fight climate change beginning in 2018.
Greta Thunberg is 16 years old, born on January 3, 2003 in Stockholm. She was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and selective mutism but still the teenage Swedish environmental activists on climate change whose campaign has gained international recognition. Days after lot of young people joined protests worldwide to demand quick action on climate change, the leaders gathered for the annual UN general assembly aiming to inject fresh momentum into efforts to curb carbon emissions. But according to Greta’s speech the leaders would not deliver new plans in line for the radical cuts in greenhouse gas emissions that professional scientists say are needed to avoid catastrophic breakdown.
In the year 2019, more than 1.5 million young people in more than 125 countries walked out of schools, colleges and universities in the day of global climate action. The importance of their protests reflects the narrow window of opportunity left to make positive change. The scientists agree that we have only 12 years to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5°C. Still, world leaders are not doing enough actions to stay within this limits as set out by the United Nation’s 2015 Paris Agreement.
As young concern to our environment I agree and support Greta Thunberg after watching and gather information about her speech as environmental activists she was really powerful that’s what inspired me. If millions of young students started joining protests and striking for climate change action I can say it’s time to make a change in our world. As we experience the different climate change are we not making a move? Do we really have to believe to the wrong leaders to solve the environmental issue we are facing today?
In the Philippines we already experienced strong climate change but we all know that’s not the strongest situation we might face. As young concern to our environment I support people who make a voice of all people and delivering message of how we fight for our environment. As graduating student I choose a career wherein I can help develop our environment and can use natural sources for our living activities. Green Architecture can be one of the solution for the environmental issues we are facing today and for the future situation.
